How to use the Ratings and Review Add-on

Installation

Automatic

  1. Backup your site completely before proceeding.
  2. Downloaded your copy of the Ratings and Review add-on.
  3. Log in to your WordPress installation.
  4. Click on the Plugins menu item
    1. then “Add New” button on the top left next to the “Plugins” title
    2. Followed by the “Upload Plugin” button on the top left next to the “Add New” title.
  5. Select the Ratings and Review zip file and click the “Install Now” button.
  6. Once installed click the activate button.

Manual

  1. Backup your site completely before proceeding.
  2. Downloaded your copy of the Ratings and Review add-on.
  3. Extract the Ratings and Review zip file.
  4. Open your favourite FTP client (ours is Filezilla).
  5. Connect to your WordPress server.
  6. Copy the Ratings and Review folder to the wp-content/plugins folder in your WordPress directory. This installs the add-on to your WordPress site.
  7. Log in to your WordPress installation.
  8. Click on the “Installed Plugins” menu item.
  9. Click the Ratings and Review “Activate” link.

NB: Font Awesome is compatible with the Ratings and Review add-on is you want an easy way to customise you rating icons.

Rating and Review Settings

To set up the Ratings and Review add-on;

  1. Go the the Booking X section of the WordPress menu, then select “Settings”.
  2. Select the General tab and then select the Ratings & Reviews section.
  3. Set if you want Resources, Services or Extras rated when a customer leaves a rating for their booking.
  4. Select if you want to customers to be able to leave ratings, reviews or both.
  5. Set if you want your rating icon to be a dot or a star. If you want to have a custom icon, select custom.
  6. If custom is selected, enter the Fill and Blank CSS Classes for each.

View and Reply to Ratings and Reviews

Once a customer has left and rating or review for their booking, it will be highlighted on the right side on the booking listing.

To view the rating and view, click on the bookings view link ( like you would to see the bookings details). There is now a new section below the booking details displaying the reviews, title, rating and review contents.

You have the option to send a reply to the customers review. As well as the option to post the review and replay on the appropriate resource, service or extras pages, depending on how you set up the Rating and Review Add-on.

NB: If you decide not to display the review on your web site, the rating will still be taken into account for the total rating of that resource, service or extra.
